I am not a good writer, but I love to travel and explore new places.. and would like to share my recent travel experience
Being a Bag packer I always travel with a certain budget and love to try my hands on most of the local things like the basic accommodation, local cuisine and sometimes local transport
Last year also I had been to Goa, but this time I had planned to do Goa with Konkan, read and heard about Konkan that it is very scenic during Monsoon and yes its absolutely true
This July I and my friends decided to do a road journey to Goa a completely Unplanned Itinerary but had 8 nights in hand, Luckily we had a diesel vehicle
We started our Journey on 21st July at 10 at night and thought to travel straight to Tarkarli first as one our friend was expect to meet
in Goa on 24th so our trip started, the vehicle was in the safe hands so I was relaxed and had a good Sleep
On 22nd morning sharp at 7.00 am we reached tarkarli and to a homestay suggested by one of my office colleague. Tarkarli is small, become little touristy as most of the people visit it in season, many homestays around, but a different experience
I always wanted to see tarkarli as I am into travel field and have heard about this place... Nice place atleast I loved it, clam cool and
quiet.. yet charming, as we reached the owner took gave us the room, rooms were good enough was basic but was clean what else a bagpacker expects
We ordered for the breakfast Poha and garam chai after finishing the same took a small nap and then thought of exploring the place, later on realised that we all were hungry and wanted to try our hands on the local cuisine
So after getting freshen up by 1.30 we thought of searching for food, but as it was an off season most of the hotels were closed and
khanawal (home like place to eat) was taking time to serve as they cook and serve food hot as per your request.
We couldn't wait and went to MTDC tarkarli which was open at 3.00 pm and was serving decent food but I thought was little expensive.
After our lunch we went to do some sightseeing by a local boat. Nice ride of the backwaters I had never expected saw the sangam of the backwaters and the sea, also they took us to the place where Tsunami has left its mark and the amazing sight of many seagull together
It was just fun and the most funniest part was the Boat man and his motor boat which use to stop after every 5 mins but we were enjoying, at night we ordered home cooked food at the place where we were staying and believe me it was osam after food we thought of taking a walk and went to the beach at night
I love to hear the splashing of the waves and the very same day I felt relaxed.
Next day we decided to visit Amboli waterfall, Vijaydurg, Devgarh and Kunkeshwar temple, Monsoon is the best time to visit Konkan the entire belt is green and the weather is pleasant..
We started our day at 10.30 straight to amboli on the way we halted at kudal for breakfast we reached Amboli at the afternoon but we were not able to see the other car while driving as it was too foggy.
The water fall was amazing but was crowded as Amboli is also visited as ex - belgum getaway, then we headed to Vijaydurg.. Mind you we did a little back tracking actually one can visit Vijaydurg from Ratnagiri as it is close by.. But the fort over there is just mind blowing, Vijaydurg is a port and still has few old houses, Fort is huge and views are fantastic
Overall nice and calm place, next from there we cam back to Devgarh this also a good place to visit not a big fort but a decent one, then we were not sure of visiting Kunkeshwar but then decided to go there, we took the SH and it was rough and consume a little more time and we reached Kunkeshwar temple at 9.00pm we were dough ting if the temple was open, but we were lucky enough as the temple was open and we got the aarti as well also it was nag panchami that day
Darshan was good, but we were not exhausted as we could see all the places which we wanted to see and reached at 11.00 at our homestay in Tarkarli
Today my friends had decided to try the konkan fish and prawns fry and they were relishing on that and poor me was happy with the veg meal as it was shravan
Next morning oops sorry afternoon we started our journey to Goa to become lazy and no drought the guys were interested in the non taxable stuff.. And our journey started Goa is approx 1.45hrs away from Tarkali.
Journey started with a promise of mine to the owner of the homestay we stayed of returning back to have some delicious Konkani food and they gifted us a sweet n sour jackfruit of their own farm. malvan is all about food food and food hmmmmmm...
Ok wishing them goodbye we left the place again hungry so we managed to take our lunch at sawantwadi at a small join.. and at around 3 we reached Goa, again we stayed at a 2bhk house were we had stayed last year also. Good, nice and neat place 5 mins drive to calangute
4 nights in Calangute.. roaming, eating the goan cuisine, enjoying the beach off - course the shack, late night going to the beach and
listing to the waves, Everyone dose that but we tried something new, thought of visiting the lesser known places and yes to dine at the
goan old restaurant
Don't want to give you the daywise Itinerary for goa but would like to mention few place..
Staying in Goa we visited the well known St. Anthony's Shack cool place to hang out at Baga, Salim Ali's Bird Sanctuary good sightings in winter, 3 kings Church (Haunted Church) but from this place you get some amazing views, visited Florentine a Goan Restaurant at Saligao and Avanti at Panjim, in Calangute Tibeten Kitchen servers good food, with being foodie I am also a shopholic and did a good shopping in Goa
Time to come back home... after so much fun On 28th afternoon by 2.00 pm we started our journey back home but as it was too late we decided to stay one night at my friends native place, and this is how we ended our Crazy and wonderful Journey
We traveled for about 2000km.. and lets see whats next..
